To do...

Been away for the better part of the week up in chilly Genting Highlands - for the MTV Asia Awards 2008 (Pardon me as I go all fan-zy: where I got the chance stand on the red carpet and happily snap music artists like the JabbaWockeeZ, Project E.A.R., The Pussycat Dolls, Panic At The Disco, The Click Five and Jared Leto)...

Anyways, after three and a half days of hotel buffets I am itching to get back in the kitchen! Unfortunately, getting back to the city/home also means loads of stuff to clear away (gosh, things pile up so fast... ever wish time stood still when you're not around?). So, I'm coming up with a reminder list of things I'm all set to try out as soon as I get close to a stove:

Chinese Chicken Rice (Gai Fan)
Banana and chocolate chip muffin (not much of a baker, so that should be interesting)
Green Coconut and Brown Sugar Rolls (traditional Malay kueh)
Creamy Curried Tomato and Mint Prawns
Mr.Orph's Creamy Guac, Chipotle Tartar Sauce n Spicy Tomatillo Salsa (bcos I'm a sucker for sauces... as soon as i find out what/where the heck EVOO and Tomatillo is!)

Aaah... As Donald so patiently explained - EVOO is Rachel Ray's (the chef) way of saying Extra Virgin Olive Oil...

As google uncovered - a tomatillo is a type of fruit (from the same family as the tomato, but still diff) that is often used in latin salsa. Looks like a green tomato but has a papery husk on the outside. Something I've definitely not seen at the super.

You should be able to find the tomatillos at the farmer's market. My local supermarket will have them sometimes, but not often.

I guess tomatillos are just one of those rare things in local Malaysian markets... i tried and was handed tomatoes half a dozen times! Guess I'll have to pass this round :-(
