Cheapskate Spaghetti Cabonara

In my college days, this was my go-to super-budget contribution for potlucks involving big crowd (and less gourmet inclined crowd like the rotaractors and my classmates). I could whip up this spaghetti for 10 people at below RM15 which incidentally doesn't stay on the table for long. Met up with an old buddy from the ol'days and we were talking about the blog and he mentioned that I should put up my "cheapskate" spaghetti carbonara recipe so that "All the other poor kids can benefit from it"...

Cheapskate Spaghetti Carbonara
Ingredients:
Spaghetti - read instructions on packet and cook it. Strain and leave aside.
Button mushrooms - sliced
Tin of Cream of Mushroom soup
Sausages - chopped
Onions - sliced
Garlic chopped
Parmesan cheese or even cheaper alternative - finely chop cheddar cheese slices and mix it with a bit of powdered milk.
Dried Mixed Italian herbs
Water

Method:
Saute onions and garlic. Add in sausages, mushrooms and brown. Pour in cream soup and water. Allow it to thicken. Add italian herbs. Once bubbling, add in cheese and give it a good stir till cheese melts. Usually I'll add in the spaghetti and toss it in the cream sauce before serving at large parties (to reduce amount of mess). Top off with more cheese.

;-) with the recent fuel price hike that us folk over here have to face, I just might have to go back to "cheapskate" meals...
