Indian-style stir fried Garbanzo beans

As far as childhood memories goes, this little treat was one of the main reasons I used to willingly follow my family to the temple. It's also a family favorite that recently made a comeback when we discovered the beans now came canned at Tesco!

Indian style stir fried Garbanzo Beans
One tin Garbanzo beans or chickpeas (if you're using the dried packet version, soak it overnight in water and then boil till soft).
Onions - sliced thinly
Indian spices (poppy seeds, cumin, etc)
Curry leaves - optional
3 Dried chillies
Sprinkling of chilli powder
Ghee or salted butter - 1 tablespoon
salt to taste (but not if you're using salted butter)

Directions:
Brown onions, chillies, curry leaves and indian spices in ghee/butter. Once brown and aromatic, throw in the chickpeas. Toss them together well and serve.
